TESA Interanl measurment
This year, the TESA IMICRO celebrates its 65th birthday and remains the only internal micrometer in the world that respects the Abbe principle. Measuring systems that meet this principle avoid first-order errors during measurement operations. According to the Abbe principle, “to measure a length and benefit from the precision of the scale, the part to be measured must be placed in the extension of the scale”. Internal micrometers from the TESA IMICRO range offer a market advantage. Their unique technology offers a precise and quick measurement of cylindrical bores. In fact, the drive of the measuring anvils via the spiral measuring cone allows linear control of the displacement of the instrument. In addition, the ratchet allows a constant measuring force. The three measuring anvils, spaced 120° apart, provide the optimum self-alignment and self-centring of the instrument, which is perpendicular to the contact surfaces. Measuring at different points on the bore to be checked, the 3-line contact determines run-out errors in a triangular way. Moreover, the IMICRO is insensitive to thermal expansion, including measurements at different depths, thanks to the key measuring elements being confined within the measuring head. In fact, the instrument can be easily adapted by simply adding extensions between the measuring head and the display unit, always ensuring precision and accuracy. The thermal expansion of the extension has no influence on the measurement results. Available in more than 100 models, the wide range of measures covers diameters from 3.5 mm to 300 mm, available in analogue or with digital display. TESA IMICRO CAPA μ SYSTEM with digital display toggles between absolute and differential mode according to the measurements. The Opto connection allows data to be sent via a single click, for proper management of multiple measurements. TESA Electronic Indicator
–– Digital indication provides error-free reading of the measured value. There is no need to read fractions of scale divisions. –– Analogue indication offers the advantage of being able to smoothly adjust the increase or decrease of the dimension to be measured on the workpiece. This type of indication is best suited for dynamic measurements such as determining axial and radial runout errors. –– Electronic indicators provide many additional functions compared to the mechanical models. For more information, refer to the section on electronic indicators. –– The inspection of axial and radial runout errors frequently requires the use of instruments with the lowest hysteresis characteristic. Our electronic indicators, precision dial gauges and dial test indicators meet this requirement. –– In order to significantly reduce the effect of systematic errors, it is recommended to carry out comparative measurements. Only deviations from the nominal dimension will be displayed. High precision, small range electronic indicators are the ideal instruments for these types of measurements. –– These same instruments also enable avoiding major errors in reading millimetres. Standards and Definitions The international ISO 463:2006 standard replaces national standards dealing with mechanical dial gauges. All the same, new definitions and standard requirements pertaining to measuring procedures, although valid, imply changes in design and metrological characteristics, which cannot be entirely indicated in this catalogue. This standard, is defined in the matrix "Product Specification (GPS) – dimensional measuring instruments". It only defines the requirements for the most important characteristics. Therefore, all tolerance limits indicated in this catalogue which refer to metrological characteristics are based on our own internal standards.
TESA Unimaster
SR Technics, headquartered in Zurich, is one of the largest independent providers of technical aircraft services in the world. It is a full-service provider of MRO for aircraft, component, and engine services. The company’s Engine Services division specializes in maintaining and repairing CFM56 and PW4000 jet engines manufactured by CFM International and Pratt & Whitney. The demanding maintenance, repair and overhaul tasks must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturers’ stringent specifications and require the highest levels of precision. Absolute precision is equally important during the inspection of the components’ dimensions after the work has been completed. “Our employees have a high level of responsibility particularly with regard to the extremely expensive engine components,” says Daniel Povse, capability implementer in the CoE Cases & Frames department. “So it is vital that our maintenance specialists can rely totally on the measurement tools they are using. Every specialist is responsible for ensuring that the measurement devices are correctly calibrated.” The company, which is ISO 9110:2010 certified, has made use of the entire range of TESA handheld measuring instruments, both standard and customized models, in its repair departments for many years. A measuring tool for large dimensions, which is the only one of its kind for this type of application, has been particularly valuable to the aircraft maintenance company. The handheld TESA UNIMASTER , which has been commercialised for 55 years and carries the SWISS MADE label, combines high precision and mobility. TESA MICRO-HITE
TESA’s Micro-Hite electronic vertical height gauge is widely used for measuring precision parts in workshops or gauge rooms. This battery-powered instrument eliminates the need for cables and glides on its own air cushion on a surface plate. It can measure internal, external, height, depth and step dimensions of geometric part features having either a flat, parallel or cylindrical surface. With the Power Panel plus M, the Micro-Hite can measure in single or two coordinate measurements as well as determine bore positions, both in polar and rectangular coordinates. The Micro-Hite comes with many accessories, including a TESA IG13 probe for measuring perpendicularity and straightness errors.
